Venison Shepherd’s Pie with Sweet Potato Mash

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground venison
  • 1 medium onion, diced (garden-grown)
  • 2 carrots, diced (garden-grown)
  • 1 cup peas (garden-grown)
  • 2 cups sweet potatoes, mashed (garden-grown)
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef or game stock
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Sauté onions and carrots in a skillet until softened. Add ground venison and cook until browned.
  2. Stir in tomato paste, peas, and stock. Simmer until the mixture thickens slightly.
  3. Transfer venison mixture to a baking dish and spread mashed sweet potatoes on top. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden.
