Maple-Glazed Duck Breast

This sophisticated dish highlights the rich flavors of duck breast, enhanced by a sweet maple glaze. Drawing inspiration from Connecticut's maple syrup traditions, this recipe is perfect for special occasions and pairs beautifully with roasted root vegetables.

  • Prep Time: 20 minutes
  • Cook Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 duck breasts
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced (garden or locally grown)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Score the duck breasts lightly to allow the fat to render. Season with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium heat and place the duck breasts skin-side down. Cook for 8-10 minutes until crispy, then flip and cook for another 5 minutes.
  3. In a small bowl, mix maple syrup, soy sauce, Dijon mustard, and garlic.
  4. Brush the glaze over the duck breasts and cook for 2-3 minutes, allowing the glaze to caramelize.
  5. Let the duck rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
