Duck Breast with Maple Glaze

Duck breast, seared to perfection and glazed with a touch of sweet maple syrup, creates a dish that’s as elegant as it is delicious. This recipe combines the earthy richness of wild duck with the comforting sweetness of maple, honoring the flavors of the Great Lakes region.

Ingredients

  • 2 duck breasts
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp fresh thyme leaves

Instructions

  1. Score the skin of the duck breasts in a crosshatch pattern. Season with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Place duck breasts skin-side down and sear until crispy, about 6-8 minutes. Flip and cook for another 4-5 minutes. Remove and let rest.
  3. In the same skillet, add maple syrup, balsamic vinegar, and thyme. Cook until slightly thickened, about 2 minutes.
  4. Spoon the glaze over the duck breasts and serve warm.
