Crispy Catfish Nuggets with Spicy Remoulade

These crispy catfish nuggets are coated in a seasoned cornmeal crust and paired with a spicy remoulade sauce for dipping. A Southern classic with a kick.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb catfish fillets, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp hot sauce
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp lemon juice

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix cornmeal, flour, paprika, garlic powder, cayenne, salt, and pepper.
  2. Coat catfish pieces in the mixture, shaking off excess.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry catfish nuggets for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  4. For the remoulade, mix mayonnaise, hot sauce, Dijon mustard, and lemon juice. Serve with catfish nuggets.
